Happy Friday! Congratulations, you made it through the week. At least, yesterday was friday. Everything is happening so fast and I am starting to see why people tell you to cherish your time as a teenager because it goes by fast. What scares me is that people are starting to tell me that college is going to go by even faster. What is up with that? Why aren’t we just allowed to enjoy every moment as we live in it. Let’s not just tell each other about how fast it goes by. It’s a negative placebo effect. It seems like the more people that say how fast college will fly by the more likely it will feel that way.
Friday was my last official full day of high school. Of course, I have to come back in for one class one day of next week, but that’s nothing too strenuous. On Monday I will be visiting the orthodontist and hopefully for the last time. Braces are great until it physically appears that they don’t have anymore work to do. After your teeth look straight you just want to grab the pliers and take them off yourself.
I’m pretty sure I’ve had a pretty positive experience when it comes to orthodontics. The first place we went to told me that along with the braces I would need jaw surgery, four teeth pulled, and an expander. With my current orthodontist I’ve only needed a metal bar across the top, some spacers at the beginning, and of course, braces. It probably wouldn’t bother me if I needed my braces longer if it wasn’t for the fact that I’m going to college next year.
Now we are planning for the graduation party. My boyfriend and I are having a joined party. This means his family and friends and my family and friends will all be there. That means splitting the costs and the preparation of foods. As long as I’m in charge of decorating I’ll be happy. There have been moments in my life that I kind of wanted to be an event planner but those moments pass quickly. However, whenever it comes to my own parties, I’m ready to whip up spread sheets, head to the store, and stand on unstable objects to hang things. I love hosting parties and I can’t wait to have my graduation party with my guy next to me.
Friday night we also celebrated one of my closest friends with a going away party. He is a foreign exchange student and I knew he was going to have to go back home, but it’s hard to let go of someone you have gotten so close to over the course of a year. When my boyfriend noticed me looking a little sad about the party he looked at me and said “Hey, now you just have to start planning your trip to Germany.” When they say “no matter what you do, surround yourself with positive people and good friends,” listen to them.
